Wireless sensors for medical applications

We are developing a new wireless force sensor based on wave backscattering that reflects electromagnetic waves with phase changes that are directly related to the applied force magnitude and location. The goal is to enable the sensing of forces along surgical tools, which is of high importance in order to avoid collateral damage of tissue and surrounding structures. Given the minimal space available in their central lumen, routing wired sensors that are widely available today is challenging and limits their integration into such tools.
