Hands-on workshops for Eureka!

July 2023

Eureka! is Girls Inc.’s STEM education program which enrolls a new cohort of rising eighth graders each year and continues through their senior year of high school.  We held two hands-on workshops focused on haptics, where the students were able to interact with the Hapkit, Phantom Omni, and our newest educational haptic device called the H3Kit (hand-held haptic kit). 

What does an engineer look like?

December 2022

Together with the MAE Graduate Women's Group, we hosted a group of over 70 middle school students from the greater San Diego area! Alvaro and Inika sat on an undergraduate student panel, and Fred, Anna, Anoush, Julian, Cedric, Connor, and Christina gave demos in the lab!

Fleet Science Center

December 19, 2019

Tania and Connor, along with three MAE3 students, took student-build robots to the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park to demonstrate the MAE3 robots at their Star Wars event! The community loved driving around the Star Wars themed student robots!


Pre-College Scholars Initiative

November 20, 2019

UC San Diego’s Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP), Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and the Chancellor’s office hosted UC President Napolitano’s Pre-College Scholars Initiative. We showed the visiting students several different hands-on demos and talked with them about engineering at UCSD.
