Connor Watson was a PhD student whose research focused on the development of methods for real time estimation of continuum robots. He received both his MS and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of California San Diego in 2016 and 2019, respectively.  Prior to joining the Morimoto lab, Connor worked as a development engineer at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography where he help to design and fabricate ocean-observing equipment for research projects. He received his PhD in June 2023 and joined Intuitive Surgical.

Fred Lin was a Phd student in mechanical engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research interests lie in design, control and user interfaces for medical continuum robots. He currently focuses on designing a dual-arm concentric tube robots for laryngeal surgery. He received the B.S degree in mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering from Tamkang University, Taiwan in 2017. He received the M.S. degree in 2020 and the PhD degree in September 2024 in mechanical engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
